Valentine Week - Day 2

If you live in Canada and don't shop at Dollarama.....you are CRAZY! I find the coolest stuff there that I can come home and use fabulous Stampin' Up! products to make lovely. This little treasure was $1 and I knew exactly what to do with it. Check it out:

There was so much product used on this I can't even begin to list them here. For the extra shimmer I broke out the Smooch Spritz and used it on EVERYTHING. Okay so I forgot how much fun this stuff is....get ready to see lots and lots of it! ;)
Hopefully I've inspired you to get extra creative and make some altered items of your own!

Very Via!

I'm busy working on craft fair goodies for a show I have this coming Saturday and I am nowhere near organized enough! My stamp room is strewn with Christmas paper, static stricky strip pieces, dimensional backings and glitter....it's a disaster zone. But oh what fun I'm having, hehe!

Anyways, Josh and I love Starbucks. Random thought is what you're thinking I'm sure but hear me out. We hate instant coffee but Starbucks has these Via sticks that you mix with your hot water and you would NEVER know they are instant, they taste awesome! Now I would love to take credit for this idea but I have to say that it was Josh who said (having seen my tea bag holders), "Hey, you're stampy, you should make a little holder for this!" OMG. This is why I keep him around! So he bought me a box and I put it on my desk...and there it sat for over a week until I decided to get creative. And I did. Look:
Ahhh! It's so adorable it's killing me! After figuring out all the measurements I went a little overboard with the embellishments on this particular one, there are too many to even list! The sparkly embossed snowflakes are just so pretty in real life. The 'Merry Christmas' banner adds dimension to the project and the sponging and tiny pearl give it a really elegant feel. What a perfect little gift to give your coworkers this Christmas, eh? Here are two more that are a little more toned down so you could make lots of them quickly.
These little goodies are so easy to make but I will do a video tutorial for you so that you don't have to figure out all the dimensions on your own. It will post on Monday because I have to spend the remainder of this week getting everything finished up for the craft show. I'll share the things I'm making for the show with you over the next few days.

Fancy Vintage Favor

I must confess something to you. When the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue came out I saw all the vintage stuff in there and kind of went, "Uh-oh". I'll be the first to admit that I don't do vintage very well which is why you don't see a lot of it on my blog. Bright colours and collections like the Playdate one are what really float my boat. But since papercrafting is totally on the Vintage boat and sailing away I thought I would make an attempt at going along.

What I have for you today I do like, it's not my favourite thing ever but I do think it's purty.

I also thought it would be fun to make a little 3x3 card to go with it. I have used A LOT of product on these two projects but it is okay...in fact, I'm happy about it. I've had a revelation and here it is: I am actually much happier and have more fun when I use all the gorgeous embellishments than I am when I look at them just sitting on my desk.

In fact, I've actually taken them all out of their containers and put them in cute little dishes (I heart you Dollarama!) right on my desk so that when I'm creating they're in front of my face screaming "Use me!"

I also wanted to point out the 'friend' stamped on the bag. This is from the new set Fabulous Phrases and it really is fabulous! It contains 29 words and one symbol that you can mix and match or use individually like I've done here. If you haven't noticed it take a minute now. You'll find it on page 149 of the catalogue.

Loving the flower on the Fancy Favor bag? Me too! I'm filming a video today to show you how to make one. They add so much dimension and pizzazz to any project.

Working Away...

I haven't had a chance to post a project yet today because I'm working on a cool project of my own!

I've been wicked inspired by all the amazing sample ideas in the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue and so I'm creating something that I'm very excited about. It'll be a display area that I can change out with the seasons to keep it new and fun all the time.

Step 1 was just completed which involved painting some REALLY old shadow boxes....like so old they were my grandma's and she used them to display things in her kitchen. My grandma passed away almost 5 years ago so it's special for me to get to use them now. :)

I'm so excited to get these up in my stamp studio and fill them up with super cool projects and card ideas.

My favourite samples from the catalogue are these ones:
Pg 14-15- the Level 3 Hostess display
Pg 143 - all the little 3x3 cards and envelopes
Pg. 159 - the scrapbook page at the top
Pg. 206 - this is the display I am using as inspiration!

And now it's time for some BLOG CANDY!!!

What are YOUR favourite samples or displays? Leave me a comment letting me know and I'll draw a name on Sunday. You will win an assortment of buttons and ribbons and a 6x6 piece of every pattern of DSP from the Greenhouse Gala, Blueberry Crisp and Play Date collections....that's 36 different pieces of Designer Series Paper for you to enjoy!

GO!
